The Castle Wind Ensemble is a beginning wind band for 4th and 5th graders. It’s a great opportunity to get started on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or trombone. Playing in a band offers students the chance to learn the value of hard work, practice and perseverance in an arena that provides immediate feedback.
Students are encouraged to develop daily practice habits that will lead to a lifetime of enjoying the instrument.
Our first instruction comes from the book ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS BOOK 1 COMPREHENSIVE BAND METHOD. It includes a play-a-long CD and DVD to assist in the learning process. It’s a great way to learn to listen and match pitch, rhythm, timbre, technique and style!
At Empresa, we feel that the ability to listen in a discerning manner is crucial to a fulfilling life, and that music is a superior vehicle for gaining this particular life skill.
Not to mention the fact that it’s A TOTAL BLAST!
We are unfortunately unable to provide students with instruments. They are available for rent at local music stores – please contact Mr. Cook with any questions.
This group meets every Tuesday after school from 2:25 PM to 3:10 PM OR Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM and is open to all 4th and 5th graders.
A printable signup sheet is available on our forms page.
